Paste Images from the Clipboard on Mac

Clipboard paste in PixPack is adding an image to the batch directly from the macOS clipboard instead of from a file on disk.

Short answer: PixPack supports pasting images directly from the clipboard with ⌘V. Screenshots and copied images become compression tasks immediately.

Overview

Clipboard paste was added in version 1.4.3. It shortens the path from taking a screenshot to having a compressed image.

Why clipboard paste matters

Screenshots and copied images usually do not exist as files yet. Without clipboard support you have to save the image to disk, find it, and then add it to the compressor. Paste removes those steps.

How to paste an image into PixPack

  • Copy an image, or take a screenshot with ⇧⌘4 (saved to the clipboard with ⌃ held).
  • Switch to PixPack and press ⌘V.
  • The pasted image is added to the batch queue as a compression task.
  • Choose the export settings and preview the result.
  • Export as usual.

Where this fits in a workflow

  • Support and documentation: paste a screenshot, compress, attach
  • Bug reports and tickets: paste a screenshot, shrink it, upload
  • Design review: copy an asset, paste, compare quality, export
